City of Liverpool FC to Kick-off At Historic Bootle FC
City of Liverpool FC, the city region’s community owned football club, is delighted to announce that we have concluded a groundshare arrangement with Bootle FC to play at the Delta Taxis Stadium on Vesty Road for the 2016/17 season.
This agreement allows us to make our application to the NWCFL within the timeframe laid down for entry to the league next season. While club officials continue to work on bringing a successful conclusion to ongoing negotiations to secure a permanent home site within the city boundaries, Bootle’s Delta Taxis Stadium will provide the club’s supporters with the opportunity to watch their team play at a proper football ground, with excellent spectator facilities, and create the atmosphere that will help our team achieve success from August 2016.
Few people would believe that in a football mad city like Liverpool there has been no senior non-league presence within the city since 1991. Still fewer would realise that this is partly because our city simply doesn’t possess a facility which meets the grading requirements to play at Step 6 of the football pyramid (eg North West Counties Football League).
City of Liverpool FC is committed to remedying this deficiency in Liverpool’s football infrastructure and, throughout 2015, the club’s Board has been lobbying and liaising closely with stakeholders to develop a “Step 6” facility within the Liverpool City boundary. Our initial goal was to secure a short term tenancy whilst simultaneously looking for a facility that we could develop into our long term home ground.
Having met Liverpool City Council officials over the summer, and subsequently visited various sites, Liverpool City Council informed us in October that they were unable to offer us a short term facility. This has led us to refocus our efforts, with a short-term groundshare outside of the city boundaries being sought while we also progress negotiations with community stakeholders regarding sites for a permanent community-owned ground within the city. With talks now at an advanced stage, COLFC is confident that we will be playing at our own ground in Liverpool in 2017.
The committee at Bootle FC have been absolutely first class in all discussions. COLFC would particularly like to thank Bootle Manager Joe Doran for his professionalism throughout and we look forward to working closely with the club throughout the next 18 months. The Delta Taxis Stadium is well connected and is just a stone’s throw away from both Aintree Racecourse and Train Station. The non-Seftonians among us have been assured that the Liverpool/Sefton boundary actually cuts across one corner of the ground!
We are now proceeding with our application to join the NWCFL for season 2016/17 by the deadline of end December and expect a decision at some point in spring 2016. City of Liverpool FC, the city region’s newest senior club, is thrilled to be kicking off its first season at the home of Bootle, one of the oldest names in Merseyside football.
City of Liverpool Football Club memberships are now available (in various age categories) to anyone in the UK and to international supporters of the club. You can join by visiting our website at www.colfc.co.uk/memberships A members’ meeting will be held in Liverpool in January, when further details of arrangements for the 2016/17 season and progress on securing a permanent home for the club will be discussed.
City of Liverpool, now there is a name, a team born from grassroots, a funny old game.
This is the way forward, a real civic pride, a club run by scousers, to unite Merseyside.
The Echo reported, the story in print, its ruling the airwaves, this team will be mint.
Let's get together and let's live the dream, challenge the big boys, creating this team.
A team for the future, one for the kids, please let this happen, no heaven forbids.
They're playing in purple, a mixture of us, the Reds and the Blueboys, will get on the bus.
We'll play a fixture, on our own ground, build up a fanbase, to me that is sound.
So give a big handshake to those in the mix, they're building with passion instead of big bricks.
Hats off for starting a trend in the pool, with science and knowledge, together we'll rule.
Offer solutions, to give the game back, to all of us people, we're not on our Jack!
Let us be happy and see how it pans, a game played with beauty, for us the real fans.
God I'm excited to be part of this, now where is that emblem, the badge I could kiss?
A meaningful logic to wear on our chest, with shorts and our socks and of course our new crest.
A new brand of togger, created by folk, a statement by people, the Prem is a joke.
The City of Liverpool, now there is that name, remember us matey, with football our aim!
