Football Management Team

This is the football management team that will lead COLFC in its historic 1st season and beyond.

You can sponsor the 1st Team coaching staff and we will get them to give you something to keep at the end of the season, when we know what's what!

1st Team Manager

Simon Burton

Simon is an FA Qualified football coach who joins us after 7 seasons of success at NWCFL Premier Division side Runcorn Town, leading them out of the West Cheshire League and into the North West Counties Football League in his first season and following that up with an immediate promotion up and out of the North West Counties 1st Divison and into the Premier Division.

Simon's team almost made it a hat-trick of promotions, with an excruciatingly close 2nd place finish in 2011/12.

Under Simon's management Runcorn Town only finished outside the top 5 places in the Premier Division once and went on to have another second placed finish and during his time as Manager he has enjoyed great success in FA competitions making several appearances in the last 32 of the FA Vase as well as reaching the last 16 in 2012/13 season. The crowning moment came in 2014/15 with a 0-1 away victory over the Northern Conference leaders, Barrow AFC in the FA Cup 2nd qualifying round.

Still only aged 38, Simon is very ambitious for himself and City of Liverpool FC and matches exactly the club's outlook on the short / medium and long term goals for the club.

Simon is married with 2 children and works as an account manager for a large food service company.

Assistant Manager

Tom Spearritt

Tom Spearritt has joined COLFC with Simon as assistant manager from Runcorn Town.
Tom grew up in Liverpool, playing for Liverpool school boys at U10 and U14-15 age groups. He then went on to complete a scholarship at Wigan Athletic. Tom moved into semi professional football, playing at Southport, Runcorn FC, Halton and several other clubs over a 14 year period.
He joined up with Simon at Runcorn town in 2012/13 season.
Away from football Tom is a Chartered Specialist physiotherapist working at the Walton Centre in Aintree, specialising in head and spinal injuries.

1st Team Coach

Phil MacDiarmid

Phil Grew up in Liverpool and played for  LFC schoolboys before joining Swindon Town on a YTS scheme and going on to sign professional forms with Bristol City FC.
Phil then played Non league football whilst studying to develop as a coach at LFC Academy, whilst at the same time studying to become a Chartered Pysiotherapist.
He coached at LFC for 13 years before joining the Blackburn Rovers FC Academy, where he has been for the last 3 years

Club Physio
